This Human Ark

The reason I sail the Tenacious  sea,

The reason absolute,  I strive to be

The wind rips troubles right out of my head

The waves as they churn set boundaries free.

So aloft the masts to scream down the storms

Stack  doubts in the hold as they govern no more

Entrust the sight of the stars on your watch

Make you never afraid of the cold and the dark.

Each mark as its past develops my smile

When  things I have done emboldens my style

I won’t shed  more tears for the parts that don’t work

Just witness today my stand on this human ark.

There’s always a reason a risk not to take

To turn away, be a fraud,  a fake.

Get out of my path as faiths streaming through

No one can  cleat me as my truths coming due.

The sea gives me force spliced to a passionate mind

The sails cleave me closer,  next to the land

When there’s soil residing over my soul

Forward and windward my spirit will blow.

It’s not that the sea refreshes lost resolve

It’s not that the passage tacks me near home

It’s not that my fears dissolve in the brine

It’s that I  remembered to treasure sparse time.

Reflect in the mirror those moments with friends

Stare at the body as it stares back at me

Will I be honest to the way that I lived

Those bell weather dreams beneath canvas at sea.
